Exploring Everyday(Night) Life

Everyday(Night) Geography is the website to share my Ph.D. journey of exploring night-time lived experiences in Indian cities. In my M.Phil. project, I explored how “smart city” interventions have reshaped the night-time experiences of small Indian cities. In my current doctoral studies, I am interested in new ways of theorizing urban nightlife through a political lens. The hidden power dynamics of everyday (night) urban praxis become visible when seen in a political light. My conceptualization of everynight practices is inspired by the scholarship on the practice of everyday life as theorized in the works of Bayat (2013; 2017) and Simone (2018), where the political possibility of everyday practices intersects with daily routines, different rhythms of ordinary everyday practices, and beyond grand claims of revolutionary changes.
